Public information subject files - county files, 19??-[ongoing].

The public information subject files - county clippings files consist of various records that document the history of the counties of the state of Alabama. The information was compiled by ADAH staff. Included in the files are correspondence, newspaper clippings, magazines, histories written by citizens of the counties, cemetery records, maps, architectural drawings, census information and various other related materials that may be used for reference purposes. Some of the topics discussed are towns, dams, historical societies, schools, parks, churches, universities, important personalities, and many other subjects pertaining to the counties in Alabama. All sixty-seven counties are included, along with Baker, Benton, and Elk, three counties that no longer exist.
